Laura's thread
I don't want to take it over.
The St. mary's girls are playing at the Garden (In Boston) on Sunday night. They will be getting over late. I have no problem with Cam going, the ride is the issue. I wish the school would have a fan bus. It doesn't look like they are going to. He could go with kids from the hockey team but I am SO uncomfortable with it. What do you think about a 14 year old out on the roads with Juniors driving? Dan has NO problem with it because he doesn't want to be out driving. I don't think I can allow it. I already told him no. I may feel better about it next year. He will get his permit in May and license I think in Dec. of 2011.

Nate is a Junior who has had his license almost a year. He drives a freshman boy from town, to school every day. I wouldn't want him driving in Boston at night at this point, though... period.
When SJP played Central Catholic for Div 1 N Hoops at the Garden last Friday, the school did provide a fan bus, but Nate and his friends wanted nothing to do with it. I wouldn't allow the car in the city at night... so they all took the T from Beverly Farms instead. Can Cam and his buddies take public transportation?

I don't know what the situation with the parents is yet. If they let the kids drive into Boston. I'll have to see how it plays out. He said he could get a ride. I knew he means with someone from the hockey team. Since I saw them rear end each other in front of the rink I haven't been to keen on letting him drive with them.
I told him no and he didn't push it yet.

Nate and his friends had to wait about 40 minutes for the next train to come, after the game. Having them hanging around down there was my biggest concern! Then he had to make the 40 minute trip home from the T station in Beverly.
Cam and his friends could likely be home in a snap using public transportation.

They could get the commuter rail out of swampscott to take them right into the garden. I'll have to mention it to him.
There may be a bunch of kids doing that. I'm thinking he could hop in an adult's car too. *fingers crossed*

You are so lucky to be close to the city...and have the T running regularly.

Yes, we are lucky.
I drove the kid the other day that lives in Beverly and takes the commuter rail to and from school with his brother. He said he sees lots of things on his trips...

This also solved itself like Laura's "problem'. LOL
Cam had a friend over the other day who has twin sisters on the girls team, his whole family is going Sunday night and Cam can go with them.

I don't think I would be able to allow it either. I know that things could happen with anyone driving at any age, but I wouldn't be able to put my mind at rest if one of mine where going in a car, at night, into a city, without an adult. I hope you all can work out something that works for you both.
